Chapter One

Here are two we built.

Our American Heritage by Rusty Thomas. He liked the first workbook enough to come back for a second.

I sent Rustin the manuscript, and he created an unbelievably gorgeous workbook that has been creating a buzz around our church. He really brought it to life, more than I could have ever imagined.

Chapter Seventeen: Family Activities

Learning the Constitution Together

Bible Verse

Deuteronomy 32:46, 47, “Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe—all the words of this law. For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.”

Why learn together?

The Constitution was written for "We the People." That means every American should understand the freedoms and responsibilities it teaches.

One of the best places to learn is at home. Family government is the one appointed by God to teach children.

Parents and grandparents are the first teachers of a child. As families read, discuss, and practice these principles together, children begin to understand that freedom is not just something we enjoy—it is something we must preserve.

This chapter contains simple activities to help families grow together in knowledge, wisdom, and gratitude.

Chapter Two

“Is there a study guide?”

If your book teaches, you've heard that question.

  • A pastor wants to use it for a class.
  • A small group leader needs questions for Tuesday night.
  • A homeschool mom wants something her kids can write in, with an answer key she can trust.
  • A co-op teacher needs a semester of lessons.

Without a workbook, the answer is “not yet.” And a lot of groups and families pick a book that has one.

Chapter Three

What a workbook does for your book.

You didn't write your book to sit on a shelf. You wrote it to change lives.

  1. 1

Your message gets taught, not just read.

A pastor, group leader, co-op teacher or parent can pick it up Tuesday night and teach it. No prep. No guessing.

  2. 2

    Readers live it out.

They write in it, work through it and remember it long after the last page.

  3. 3

    Your book earns again.

Every student needs their own copy, and so does next year's class. All from work you already did.

  4. 4

You have something new to share.

A launch, a reason to email your readers, a reason to call churches.

  5. 5

People start talking about your book again.

Churches, small groups and homeschool families pass it along, and your message reaches people you'll never meet.

This is for you if

  • You're a Christian author.
  • Your book is published, or your manuscript is finished.
  • Your book teaches something: Bible study, doctrine, history, discipleship, marriage, parenting, Christian living, or a subject a homeschool family would study.
  • You hold the rights to make a companion product.

This is not for you if

  • You want someone to rewrite your message.
  • Your publisher holds the rights to companion products and hasn't said yes.

Chapter Six

Straight answers before you ask.

Your message

Your words stay yours.

We don't rewrite your words or your message. Every question, summary and change is shown to you first. You have the final say.

The art

Our illustrations are researched, made with AI, and approved by a person.

We research every scene first: the clothing, buildings, tools and places of its time period. Then we create the illustration with AI, and a person checks it against your text and that research. If anything is off, we fix it or cut it. Nothing goes in your book until a person approves it.

When you publish, KDP asks you to disclose AI-generated images. We'll tell you exactly how to answer.

Our story

We're new.

We've finished one workbook set so far, the two volumes above. That's why your first lesson is free. You see our work on your book before you pay anything.

Chapter Ten

Questions.

Who owns the workbook?

You do. It publishes under your name, in your own KDP account.

My book is with a publisher. Can I still do this?

Check your contract for companion or derivative rights. We need your publisher's written okay before we start.

What does a full-color workbook cost to print?

Full color costs more to print than black and white. Before we start, we'll show you the print cost for your page count so you can set your price.

Can I sell copies to churches directly?

Yes. KDP lets you order author copies at print cost, so you can sell to churches and at events yourself.

Do you check the theology?

You do. We flag anything we're unsure about, and nothing goes in without your approval.

Will it work for homeschool families?

Yes. Every lesson has an answer key, so a parent can teach it without extra prep, and the pages are built for kids to write in. Tell us the age of your readers at kickoff, and we'll build the questions and activities for them.

What if my book is short, or isn't split into chapters?

Send it anyway. We'll tell you honestly whether it works as a workbook.

The last page

See your book as a workbook. Free.

Here's what happens next. Fill out a short form and send your book. In 3 days you'll get Lesson 1 as finished pages. If you like it, we'll talk about the rest. If you don't, keep the pages.

“Two full-color volumes, and I never had to write another word. I'd do it again tomorrow.”

A real example

One page. Three questions. Rusty decided.

We flagged three things on this page. Nothing changed until Rusty said yes.

  1. A fact

He wrote“There are 437 House members that make up our Congress.”

We askedThe House has 435 voting members. Change it?

Now reads“There are 435 House members that make up the House of Representatives.”

  2. A wording question

He wrote“The Legislative Branch consists of a Congress and Senate.”

We askedCongress is the House and the Senate together. Reword it?

Now reads“The Legislative Branch is Congress, which has two parts: the House of Representatives and the Senate.”

  3. Scripture

He wrote“For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver…” (Isaiah 33:22)

We askedThe NKJV prints LORD in capitals, like every other verse in the book. Match it?

Now reads“For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver…”

Every other word on the page is exactly as he wrote it.
